ARTIST STATEMENT: |
- |
For the past year I have been working on a series of staged self
portraits, which I have so far title ‘The Blonde’.
My work deals with the concept of beauty and identity and
culture on one level.
However, on another deeper level my work touches on the
physiological impact of slavery,‘(The post traumatic slave
syndrome)’ colonialism and the effects that it has had on black
women in particular and the need to assimilation in the western
way of looking and seeing. |
