ARTIST STATEMENT: |
- |
I want to communicate grotesque humour and an
instant appreciation of weather you like what you see or not, I
don’t want to mystify.
I produce prints on materials that have allusions to historic
craft techniques or an inherent sense of faded glamour.
I reference historic popular print, folk culture and comic books
that are a continuation of this.
Contemporary references include the tabloid press and my own
documentation of transgressive behavior.
I am currently transcribing Hogarth paintings updating Hogarth’s
social commentary to address current concerns.
Within these images I question current ideas of taste, beauty,
attraction, highness and lowness.
